Medina Bookshop in Cowes will be paying host to folk rock legend Ian Anderson on Friday 11th April at 19:00.
Ian A Anderson (NOT to be confused with the Jethro Tull frontman) has been an internationally touring and recording musician, broadcaster, writer, festival and concert organiser, record producer and label boss, tour manager, photographer, and perhaps most notably was the founding editor of fRoots (Folk Roots) magazine for a remarkable 40 years.
The acclaimed musician will be visiting Medina Bookshop to talk about his new autobiography Alien Water: Six Decades Paddling In Unpopular Music, a unique and definitely not academic overview of folk and roots music sub-cultures.
No stranger to the Island, Ian’s great grandfather Thomas Sears – a schoolmaster who also had an interest in folk traditions- lived with his family in Bonchurch in the 1800s.
Ian’s appearance will be in two parts: in the first half, he will be in conversation with Paul Armfield as well as answering questions from the audience, and in the second half, he’ll be performing a selection of songs from throughout his career.
Tickets for Anderson’s appearance are £12.50 and can be purchased directly from the shop 01983 300044 or from their website An Evening Of Conversation And Music With Ian A Anderson – Medina Book Shop.
