This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

• Michael Knight, of East Cowes Road, East Cowes admitted breaching a community order by failing to comply with the requirements of said order. The existing order was varied and now includes a total of 130 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £60 costs. • Christopher Williams, 40, of Fitzroy Street, Sandown pleaded guilty to 10x theft from a shop, 1x attempt theft from a shop and failing to surrender to bail. He was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He must complete 20 rehabilitation days and pay compensation of £1100. Magistrates noted that his offences related to high value thefts and were persistent and prolific in nature, across a 7-month period. • Lee Williams, 38, of Rew Street, Cowes, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, drug driving (cannabis), drink driving (139 in blood), driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. He must comply with a 9-month alcohol treatment programme and complete 30 rehabilitation days. He was banned from driving for 48 months and was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £154 surcharge. • Gavin Buggs, 43, of care of Road, Sandown pleaded guilty to criminal damage and 2x theft from a shop. He was handed a 18-month community order with a 9 months alcohol treatment requirement and 30 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £629.50 compensation. • Lorelei Fisher, 18, of Carter Avenue, Shanklin pleaded guilty to burglary other than dwelling – theft. They were made subject to a 12-month community order with 35 rehabilitation days attached. They were ordered to pay £48 compensation and a £114 surcharge. • Sean Donovan, 27, of Green Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and possession of a controlled drug of Class B. He was handed 8 penalty points on his licence, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £48 surcharge. • John Costello, 57, of West Street, Brading pleaded guilty to producing a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85costs with a £32 surcharge. • Luke Rowland, 24, of West View, Newport pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis. He was fined £184 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £74 surcharge. • Stephanie Smith, 27, of Albert Street, Ventnor pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. She was ordered to pay £15 compensation and £40 costs.Single Justice Procedure
• Lee McCall, of Chapel Close in Newport, for keeping a vehicle without a valid vehicle licence (tax). He was ordered to pay a £220 fine and £33.34 in back duty, as well as £85 costs. • Jack Ryan, of Newport Road in Cowes, for speeding. He was fined £440 and handed 5 penalty points on his licence. He was also ordered to pay £90 costs with a £176 surcharge. • Keenan Bradbury, of Cross Lane in Newport, for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He was fined £660 and handed 8 penalty points, as well as being ordered to pay £90 costs with a £264 surcharge. • Liam Noonan, of Amherst Mews in Ryde, for driving whilst not wearing a seat belt. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £90 costs with a £88 surcharge. • Furkan Tunc, of High Street in Newport, for failing to comply with a section 36 traffic sign. He was fined £220 and handed 3 penalty points on his licence. He was ordered to pay £90 costs with a £88 surcharge.
