Fire crews from Newport and Shanklin attended a kitchen fire at a house in Ryde this evening (Saturday).
Firefighters, police and an ambulance crew attended the scene on Arthur Street after a fire was reported just before 20:00
Crews from Newport and Shanklin attended the scene at a semi-detached property at the Pellhurst Road end of the street.
It is believed that the fire started after some food was burnt.
1 casualty was led to safety by firefighters before being taken to St Mary’s Hospital by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
After the casualty was vacated from the property, firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen of the property.
Ventilation fans were used to clear smoke before firefighters stood down and returned to station at around 20:39.
