The Hard Rock Stage drew festivalgoers in yesterday (Friday) as it opened for a fifth consecutive year at the Isle of Wight Festival 2018.
The stage delivered exhilarating sets from some of music’s most exciting rising stars. Killit, The Novatones and The RPMs were just some of the acts getting crowds amped up for a weekend of rockin’ new music.
Indigo Husk kicked off proceedings channelling high energy punk and garage rock, officially opening the Hard Rock Stage for 2018. They were introduced on stage by Hard Rock’s host for the weekend, actor/presenter Andrew Hayden-Smith.
Next up were The Severs, a four piece alternative band who stormed the stage to perform their unique brand of sci-fi, post punk 90s alternative grunge.
Belle Roscoe followed next delivering the perfect set for festivalgoers basking in the glorious sunshine. The indie/folk duo from Melbourne, Australia brought refreshingly cool and epic indie melodies throughout their Fleetwood Mac and Arcade Fire infused sound.
Ensuring the crowd was kept thoroughly entertained in the summer sun, The RPMs brought classic nfeel-good indie pop built for festivals and good times. Their catchy noise pop beats to get revellers on their feet.
To keep the fun vibe rolling throughout, lucky Hard Rock stage attendees were treated to free Hard Rock T shirts being shot out via a T shirt cannon in between artists.
The Novatones took to the stage as the day draws to a close. The British Britpop band kept crowds rockin’ ahead of Friday night headliners Killit, who finished the night off with a heady mix of rock and metal inspired by the likes of Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC and Alice in Chains.
Music has always been at the very heart of Hard Rock, an institution which continues to support breakthrough acts, providing the Hard Rock Stage at Isle of Wight Festival as the perfect platform to get new music out there to thousands of festivalgoers. The music continues tomorrow through until Sunday night.
