Isorropia Foundation has been awarded over £1million from the Government’s Community Ownership Fund to purchase Medina Valley Centre on the outskirts of Newport.
This funding will enable the Foundation – a Community Interest Company – to purchase and begin the redevelopment of the Centre, located on Dodnor Lane.
The acquisition ensures that this much-loved community asset remains in the hands of the local Isle of Wight community, preserving its value for generations to come.
Joint Founders and CEOs, Charlie Bell and Vicki Haworth, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Isorropia Foundation throughout the bidding process:
“This is the best Christmas present ever! We are deeply thankful for the incredible support from our members, team, and wider community over the past year.
“A special thanks goes to John Wells and the Trustees of the Medina Valley Centre for their unwavering patience and commitment, which made this achievement possible.”
The funding marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Isorropia Foundation, with plans to revitalise the Medina Valley Centre already underway. These developments aim to enhance their ambition to turn Isorropia Foundation into a national centre of excellence for community wellbeing, mental health, and connection.
Medina Valley Centre closed in 2019, as previously reported by Island Echo.
