A-level results are being handed out across the Isle of Wight today (Thursday), with students finding out if all their hard work has paid off.
Some Islanders may be off to University and others straight into internships or full-time work, but to celebrate their success, here are some of the results so far from across the Island’s educational facilities.
Christ The King College
This year, 70% of A Level grades were awarded at A*–C, maintaining the excellent standard achieved in 2024. Students studying BTEC qualifications were rewarded with particularly exceptional results; 73% attaining the top grades of Distinction–Distinction and an outstanding 100% pass rate across these programmes.
Head of Sixth Form, Hayley Conway-Hughes, has said:
“I want to congratulate our students on the incredible results they have achieved this year. These outcomes are the result of their determination, resilience, and dedication, supported every step of the way by our committed teaching and support staff. It has been a joy to see our students grow in confidence, seize opportunities and now progress on to exciting futures.
Cowes Enterprise College
Students and staff at the academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, have come together in celebration of a brilliant set of A Level results which have secured top university spots and high-quality job offers, alongside a prestigious place on the Royal Navy apprenticeship scheme, reflective of the academy’s award-winning maritime studies roots.
One student celebrating today is Blake Poerscout-Edgerton who achieved A* in Spanish, English Literature and EPQ as well as an A grade in Maths. Blake is off to Atlanta in the USA after securing a scholarship place at Emory University.
Speaking to Island Echo this morning, Blake said:
“I’m really happy and I’m excited to head to America this weekend (Sunday).
“Once I got the offer from Emory it was a really easy decision to make, although I’m a little worried about the heat”.
Blake, who hopes to become a political correspondent, is off to celebrate with family and friends.
Jessica Blackwell described the pre-exam revision as ‘hardcore’ but that it was ‘all worth it’ in the end. Ahead of collecting her results this morning she went for a run to calm her nerves.

Rachel Kitley, Principal at Cowes Enterprise College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our Sixth Form students; they have worked hard and today celebrate their much-deserved success.
“Along with all our staff and the wider CEC Community, I wish them the very best with their next steps as they move on to university, apprenticeships and employment, becoming the leaders of tomorrow.”
Island VI Form
Over in Newport, students at the Island VI Form were delighted with their results. The vast majority of students who have chosen to go to
university have secured the results required for their first-choice institutions. Whilst students who have chosen prestigious higher level apprenticeships, job specific training opportunities and full-time employment have also been very successful at securing their chosen next step
Phil Pearce-Jones, Head of the Island VI Form said:
“On behalf of the Island VI Form, I am thrilled to convey how immensely proud we are of the achievements of our students today. At the Island VI Form, students are at the forefront of everything we do and these grades show only part of their success.”
Lift Ryde
This year’s cohort were in year 8 at the start of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, with uncertainties and disruption as they prepped for their A Levels. The resilience and hard work shown by this group of students has been impressive, reflected both in their results and determination to do well.
Head of School at Lift Ryde, Will Doyle, said:
“I am delighted and incredibly proud of our students who have worked so hard. As a centre, our results are the best ever with our highest number of the top A* grades and highest ever number of students going onto Russell Group Universities. The students have achieved amazing results with many going onto university, further study or apprenticeships. Good luck to all our fantastic students, we are very proud of you all!”
Ryde School
Ryde School pupils have achieved an excellent set of A Level and IB examination results. This cohort attained 35.9% of grades at A*-A and 66.0% of grades at A*-B, the highest grades at this level since 2016 (excluding COVID-adjusted years).
There are some superb individual A Level performances to celebrate. Particular congratulations go to the following pupils for their achievements and the degree courses they will go on to study: Kai M, 2 A*s and 2 As (Physics at Durham); Benjamin L (Medicine at Kent and Medway Medical School), Ellie M (Liberal Arts at Birmingham), Alice O (gap year with a place for Architecture at Manchester), Kavin S (Medicine at Bristol) and Harry S (Dentistry at Manchester) who all achieved 2 A*s and an A; Hugo G, an A* and two As (Physics at Bath); Charndler H, 4 As (Aerospace Engineering at Bath) and Lewis C, 3 As (Design, Innovation and Creative Engineering at Queen Mary, London).
The School also has some fantastic IB performances to note. In the IB Diploma Programme cohort, Wilona R gained 41 points (Medicine at KCL), Elliott G, 38 points (Psychology at Durham) and Cully T, 36 points (International Relations at Bath). Among those who took the IB Career-related Programme, three pupils achieved UCAS points above the equivalent of three A Level grades at A*: Bronte B, 195 points (Geography and Psychology at Cardiff), Will L-P, 194 points, and Grace H, 176 (Social Work at Edinburgh). Four other pupils achieved the equivalent to three A Level grades at A in their points totals. The vast majority of students who took A Levels and the IB programmes received their first choice University offers.
3 other individuals to highlight are Arthur A who has achieved a prestigious tennis scholarship to study at Georgia State University in the USA, and Tom T and Enid R who will attend the highly-regarded Emil D Academy to study Musical Theatre.
Headmaster Will Turner has commented:
“Our leavers this summer can rightfully be enormously proud of what they have achieved. These excellent grades are a reflection of the pupils’ hard work throughout their time in the Sixth Form and the dedication and professionalism of their teachers who have so ably supported them. It is particularly impressive that we have five pupils leaving to study the highly competitive courses of Medicine or Dentistry.
“All of us at Ryde School wish this cohort the very best as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.”
Isle of Wight College
T Levels, introduced at the Isle of Wight College in 2022, are a cutting-edge qualification designed in collaboration with employers to meet the needs of industry. Equivalent to 3 A Levels, T Levels combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement, giving students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their chosen field.
This year’s cohort has excelled across a wide range of subject areas including Health, Media, Engineering, Business Management, Childcare, Building services, Digital and Animal Care. Many students have already secured university places, apprenticeships, or employment in skilled roles—demonstrating the strength and versatility of the T Level pathway.
Christian Rogers, who received a merit in his T Level in Management and Administration, is returning to College to study higher education to complete the HND Business with a view to top it up to a degree in the future.
Shona Stanton was very pleased to receive a Distinction in her T-Level Childcare. Shona remarked ”The course was a bit of a struggle to start with but my tutor and my work placement were very supportive so I made it through to the end”. Shona goes straight into full time employment.
Principal Ros Parker has commented:
“We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our T Level students. Their dedication and effort have really paid off. These are immensely valuable qualifications that combine academic excellence with hands-on industry experience. T Levels are revolutionising the way our young people prepare for their futures, and our students at The Isle of Wight College have risen to the challenge with exceptional enthusiasm and commitment.”
