Eagle-eyed moviegoers may spot an Isle of Wight product in the background of the latest Bond film, No Time to Die.
During a bar scene in Cuba, 007 orders a Vodka Martini – shaken, not stirred. Sitting on the shelf behind him are 2 bottles of Mermaid Gin and Mermaid Pink Gin, which are both distilled on the outskirts of Ryde.
In celebration of the launch of the new James Bond film, Isle of Wight Distillery has come up with the suggestion of a Mermaid Vesper Martini.
Smooth and sophisticated, there’s nothing quite like a Bond-inspired Vesper Martini. Breaking with convention, shaken, not stirred, is the only way to go. The Mermaid take on the classic Vesper uses lime, instead of lemon, for a zesty kick that pairs beautifully with Mermaid Salt Vodka.
Recipe:
60ml Mermaid Gin | 20ml Mermaid Salt Vodka | 15ml White Vermouth
Garnish: Lime Peel
Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Give it a vigorous shake and strain into a glass and garnish with lime peel.
Superb – love this!!!
I can only afford the Tesco stripy label bottle, still it does have a secondary use should petrol totally run dry or become more expensive than the contents.
Great to see an Island product used, and James and his lady dowing a pint of Garlic beer with resulting wind would not have the same panache.
The picture quality at Cineworld was so bad I thought it was bottled Slush Puppy.
Since Roger Moore Bond films have lost there humour, there non PC appeal. Seeing a bottle on a shelf whilst of local interest won’t inspire me to see this film.
For it will be like the Chariot race in Ben Hur, I will be wating all my time to just see (in that case an alleged sports car in the background) a bottle of Gin, when facebay has ten a day on it filled with silly led lights, which are used twice then just dust collectors.
