A charity worker is using the Isle of Wight Challenge to kick-start a trio of gruelling fundraising events he has signed up to in aid of a cause close to his heart.
Nathan Roberts will run 106km (65 miles) around the entire Island in just 1 day when he sets off from Chale on Saturday 29th April. The route will take him and other participants past the famous Needles with Cowes as the half-way point.
6 weeks later, on Friday 9th June, Nathan will be pulling on his hiking boots ready for a 3-day trek to reach the summit of Ben Nevis.
His final adventure will see him running along the stunning south coast from Eastbourne to Arundel in a day as part of the 100km South Coast Challenge which takes place on Saturday 26th August.
The 28-year-old, from Shoreditch in London, has set himself the target of raising £1,350 with all monies going to the NSPCC.
Nathan, NSPCC Propositions Development Manager in Individual Giving, said:
“I have worked at the NSPCC for over three years and I used to be a Childline counsellor.
“Over the years I have witnessed the amazing work done by staff across the organisation, not just the frontline services but also in the background, and I wanted to do my bit to support that and to help ensure that it carries on.
“The training has been quite intense. I currently only have one day off a week and do a mixture of running, conditioning training and yoga. As well as finishing the three challenges, I’m really looking forward to all of the wonderful views that I will see along the way.”
Vicky Bott, NSPCC Fundraising Executive, said:
“By choosing to support the NSPCC, Nathan is helping us reach even more young people and we are very grateful.”
