Isle of Wight author Harriet Kent has been so moved by the efforts of so many people in fundraising for the NHS and other much-deserved causes during the COVID-19 pandemic that she has stepped up to the mark herself.
Written within a short space of time, Harriet has penned the second children’s book in her series of The Adventures of Humphrey’ stories, called ‘Humphrey Comes to the Rescue’.
It tells of Humphrey the horse who raises the alarm when an elderly neighbour is suddenly taken seriously ill with COVID-19. She is rushed to hospital and to ICU.
Humphrey, along with his other animal friends, wishes to raise funds for the local hospital to help towards paying for vital equipment and PPE. As Humphrey is a very keen dancer, a Dance All Night event is arranged. Streamed on the Internet, and a fundraising donations page created, by an extremely intelligent owl, the event goes viral with lots of money raised.
It is a story of how a group of animals came together and of what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. Needless to say, the story is uplifting and has a happy outcome!
Harriet states that all royalties from the book will be donated equally to the NHS and also to Mountbatten Hospice in Newport. Harriet’s editor, Stephanie Dagg of Editing Zone, kindly waived her fees in response to the effort.
Aimed at 5 to 8-year-olds, Humphrey Comes to the Rescue will be available on Amazon as either e-book or paperback.
