Hovertravel is bringing forward the introduction of its later evening summer flights to Saturday 28th March, citing strong customer demand and a desire to support travel over the Easter holidays.
The additional crossings had originally been due to begin on Monday (6th April), but will now start more than a week earlier.
They include the 19:15 departure from Ryde and the 19:30 departure from Southsea, giving passengers later evening travel options between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.
Hovertravel says the move follows increased forward bookings and customer feedback calling for later return crossings during the Easter break, when leisure travel and visits to friends and family typically rise.
The operator says the earlier start will give more flexibility to day-trippers, commuters and holidaymakers during one of the busiest periods of the spring.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said:
“We know how important flexibility is for our customers, particularly during school holidays and the Easter period.
“Easter is such a wonderful time to travel – the days are longer, the weather is often brighter, and people are keen to get out and explore after the winter months. Demand for later evening crossings has been especially strong this year, so we’re delighted to bring these flights forward to Saturday (28th March).
“By introducing the 19:15 from Ryde and the 19:30 from Southsea earlier than planned, we’re giving customers more choice and helping them make the most of their time on both sides of the Solent.”
Customers are being encouraged to check the latest sailing times and plan their journeys using the interactive timetable on Hovertravel’s website at www.hovertravel.co.uk/interactive-timetable/.

Hilarious. Well it makes a change from everything closing around 4 pm on the Island, I guess.
So true, or many shops not open at all.
Good news for those who use the service but the image reminds me of an episode of ” Killing Eve “
