Forecasters are warning of the potential for heavy rain across the Isle of Wight tomorrow (Monday).
A yellow weather warning has been issued by IW Met Service, which is valid from 05:00 until 22:00 on 14th October.
Outbreaks of rain are expected to arrive early on in the day, some of which may be heavy and rather persistent. Between 8mm and 15mm of rain is likely to fall. Due to the already saturated ground, this spell may lead to localised flooding in prone spots.
The main area of interest is during the afternoon and into the evening with the risk of some heavy and potentially thundery downpours developing.
The rainfall will be very localised and could potentially miss the Island altogether, but if anywhere catches one of these downpours there could be a further 10-20mm of rain in a short space of time.
Jamie Russell, Chief Forecaster at IW Met Service says:
“If these downpours do hit us then they would likely lead to some localised flash flooding, as well as exacerbating the already high levels of some rivers and streams.
“This warning may be updated and/or cancelled, so please keep checking back for any changes”.
