Plans to open a new doggy day care centre in Ventnor have been approved by the Isle of Wight Council, paving the way for a new pet care business in the town.
Suzanne Wright has received permission to change the use of Unit 3 at Guido Designs, located on Ventnor Industrial Estate off Old Station Road, into the ‘Wright Zone Doggy Day Care’.
The premises will feature dedicated areas for play and enrichment, calm and comfy rest zones, an isolation area, storage space, an office and a reception.
Approved opening hours are 07:30 to 18:00 on weekdays, 08:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays and bank holidays. One full-time employee will be hired to run the centre.
Ventnor Town Council supported the proposal, subject to a condition ensuring staggered vehicle movements throughout the day to manage traffic levels.
Local resident Mrs E. Bush welcomed the idea, calling it a “great idea” and saying: “We need more things like this on the south side of the Island.”
Suzanne Wright, owner of Wright Zone Doggy Day Care, has said:
“We’ve got some paws-itively fantastic news to share – planning permission has officially been granted.
“After a bit of a ruff journey, this brings us one big paw-step closer to opening our doors and welcoming some very good boys and girls. We’re feeling incredibly paws-itive about what’s ahead. Watch this space!”
In its decision report for application 25/01551/FUL, the council said the new facility would support local employment and help establish a new small business.
Island Roads noted that the site could result in up to 20 vehicle movements per day, based on 10 dogs being cared for daily. However, planners concluded this could be mitigated with a condition requiring staggered pick-up and drop-off times to reduce congestion.

“mitigated with a condition requiring staggered pick-up” Jesus wept…
