A star of BBC Radio 4, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Glastonbury Festival will be returning to the Isle of Wight next month.
John Hegley, famed poet, musician and comedian, will be bringing his An American in Luton tour to Newport’s Quay Arts on Friday 8th November.
Armed with his mandolin and ukulele, John’s show promises a story of family, fantasy, love and loss. It contains a good deal of yet-to-be-published material alongside some of John’s back catalogue favourites.
You can buy tickets to see John Hegley’s An American in Luton at https://www.quayarts.org/event/john-hegley-an-american-in-luton/.
Whilst the show was devised for adults, it’s suitable for those aged 9 and upwards.
John has toured internationally for the past 40 years and has developed a cult following, appearing at music festivals, literary events and often featuring on the radio.
He was the poet in residence for BBC Online in 1999, as well as the Keats House poet in residence in 2012.
His published books include I am a Potato, My Dog is a Carrot and Visions of the Bone Idol (Poems about Dogs and Glasses).
He also starred in a revival of the musical The Pyjama Game, directed by acting great, Simon Callow.
Balancing a musical career alongside poetry, John is a Glastonbury regular and, with his band The Popticians, recorded two John Peel sessions between 1983 and 1984.
He has performed at the Isle of Wight Festival multiple times and in February, appeared at the IW Story Festival with illustrator Neal Layton.
