Fears for the future of St Vincents Care Home in Binstead have been raised following the launch of a consultation by the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
The charity, which helps house and care for ex-service men and women, say that it may no longer be viable to run the care home.
A consultation is seeking the views of the residents and staff, with a final decision expected to be delivered by 22nd May.
A spokesperson has today (Tuesday) told Island Echo:
“SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity has launched a consultation concerning the future of St.Vincents care home. Having fully analysed our range of support and strengths in a recent review of all our services, we have concluded that it may no longer be viable for SSAFA to continue running St Vincents.
“We are currently exploring all options to find the best possible solution and are committed to a thorough and proper consultation process, which will end on Tuesday 15 May 2018.
“As ever, SSAFA remains focused on each and every individual in all the services that we provide and will ensure residents remain safe and treated with dignity. If the decision is made to close the care home, we will continue to meet people’s needs safely and effectively until the last resident has transferred to their new care option.”
