A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family of Isle of Wight man Chris Bush, who sustained serious injuries after being run over by a lorry in Cowes last week.
Chris was flown to Southampton General Hospital by the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance on Thursday (21st November) after being involved in a collision with a lorry outside Acclaims Logistics on the Somerton Industrial Estate.
It’s said that Chris’ injuries are ‘life-changing’ and that he requires surgery to help him onto the road to recovery. He is described as being in a ‘critical’ condition.
His wife, Allison, is by his bedside as the family awaits news of Chris’ surgery.
Allison is currently staying at Meller House – a unique facility that provides accommodation for the relatives of patients who have accessed hospital services long distances from home or in emergency situations. It is run by Southampton Hospitals Charity but comes at a cost of around £700 per month, on top of day to day living expenses.
A fundraiser has been set up to help support Allison – and Chris – during this tough time.
Michaela Frost, who has set up the fundraiser on behalf of the family, has said:
“Over the years Allison & Chris have helped so many of us, financially and spiritually and we feel that in this distressing time, it’s time to give back to them. It would be nice to take this financial strain off of them as they will not be working.”We would really appreciate any contributions (little or big) to allow Allison to stay on the hospital grounds and to be close to her husband whilst he is in hospital.
“Thank you all so much and please say plenty of prayers and keep Chris in your thoughts.
“We will update you all as much as possible when we receive them”.

Rather than a fundraiser surely the Company
who owns the vehicle involved would pay the costs
from their insurance.
Insurance is usually very generous and surely it’s to early to know what they need or if they need anything at all or anything the NHS dosent provide.. There’s also sick pay. Certainly not a charity of worth compared to all the other war torn deprived peoples.
