Sail the Wight has announced the first sponsor for the 2016 race, the Isle of Wight Distillery.
Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett from the Isle of Wight Distillery are giving their full support to Sail The Wight including bottles of the Wight Mermaids Gin at 42% ABV – a refreshing, smooth and slightly sweet peppery gin with hints of citrus – to the winners in each class of Sail the Wight. The first start is 08:00 on the 16th July from the Royal Yacht Squadron line.
Xavier said:
“The sailing community is obviously a market that appreciates a good gin and our carefully crafted Wight Mermaids Gin is the ideal post race refresher, served as a traditional Wight Mermaids Gin and Tonic or as the base for a Red Snapper. We are delighted to be part of Sail the Wight and supporting this years charity Age UK IW”
2016 will see the 11th year of Sail The Wight, which started when two friends from East Cowes Sailing Club challenged each other to raise money for charity by racing around the Isle of Wight.
There will be other chances to win bottles of the Wight Mermaids Gin as Sail the Wight launches other competitions for both sailors and spectators between now and the race.
