Island Roads is hoping to resurface Belgrave Road in Ventnor this week, as work to re-open the road draws nearer.
Resurfacing of the damaged section will mark a key phase in the ongoing project to repair and reopen the road following a huge rockfall there earlier this year.
The resurfacing – which is subject to favourable weather – will make it necessary to once again close the pedestrian access through Belgrave Road for the duration of work.
It is anticipated that the resurfacing will take 3 days to complete and should be finished by the end of the week. On completion, pedestrian access will be restored.
Vehicular access will be restored once the new parapets have been completed. The target date for this is Friday 19th December.
Project manager Nathaniel Saunders said:
“As residents can see, we are making significant progress and we’d like to thank the local community for their support during work.
“The end of the project is now in sight but there is still more important work to be done before we can safely restore full access. Residents can be assured that we are working hard to achieve the target opening date.”
