A female who became stuck in a lift on Sandown Esplanade has been released by firefighters this evening (Wednesday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to Napoleons Landing, the Island’s tallest building, at 20:09 after reports of a person stuck within the lift.
Fire crews from Shanklin and Sandown Fire Stations were called to the seafront building and released the female.
Thankfully, the casualty was uninjured and not distressed by the ordeal.
Firefighters cordoned off the internal lift until it has been inspected and repaired by engineers in the morning.
Crews were stood down from the incident and returned to their home stations at 20:24.

If she was not injured or distressed why is she a casualty?
It’s obvious. When they turn up they do not know what her condition is and so for safety assume she is injured. And so proceed on this assumption.
ok I get it. Stuck in lift not nice. But why three pumps.just to pull a release valve.
.
I always understood that two appliances are required attend a house fire so why three for someone stuck in a lift!
