Statistics revealed by the Isle of Wight Maternity Department have revealed that a total of 961 babies were born on the Island in 2022 – including 14 sets of twins.
Of those 961 it was a nearly half-and-half boy vs girl split – as you would expect – with 487 boys and 474 girls welcomed into the world.
The lightest baby weighed 2lb 7oz and the heaviest 10lb 7oz.
35 babies were delivered by water birth, whilst 23 babies were delivered at home.
35% of the babies born in 2022 were born by Caesarean section, with 131 planned and 214 emergency procedures carried out.
A total of 3 babies – 2 girls and a boy – were born on Christmas Day 2022, as previously reported by Island Echo.
We also remember those babies that were sadly lost too soon.
