Cowes RNLI lifeboat made a short but necessary rescue trip into the Solent on Wednesday evening, to reach a 33ft yacht which had a broken down engine and with insufficient wind to sail was drifting into the shipping lane.
Although the ‘Georjie’ had originally been bound for Lymington, because the engine was out of action the crew was obliged to seek help through Solent Coastguard.
The yacht, with 2 people and a dog aboard, was towed by the lifeboat from well off Cowes Harbour to Shepards Wharf Marina.
The lifeboat launched at 18:17 and returned to station nearly an hour later.
