A training exercise involving specialist firearms officers from both sides of the Solent was held on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.
More than 20 officers were involved in the exercise, which saw convoys of unmarked vehicles travelling around to various locations on the Island.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, a number of its own firearms officers were involved in the day-long exercise. Island Echo understands that teams from other forces were also involved, with a number of vehicles linked to Counter Terrorism operations in the South spotted in the convoy.
Island Echo readers were alarmed to see around 9 vehicles rendezvous on Brading Downs before officers donned protective vests and headed off towards Ryde.
Back in January, elite Counter Terrorism officers from the Met Police carried out a training exercise in the West Wight, which included explosions.

They were in the industrial unit along Great Preston road as I took my Husky down the footpath I could hear lots of shouting ‘Don’t move, hand up, etc etc’ thought a armed gang was raiding the place.
Yet a plain clothed office assured me that all was ok, as it was Police training.
Odd place to do such as few of those who do such things as YET here.
