Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were called in to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with moving a casualty who had fallen and broken his leg on a remote footpath below Brading down this evening (Wednesday)
Paramedics got to the casualty, who is believed to be on holiday from the mainland and staying with family in nearby Brading , but were unable to move him the 1/4 mile or so to the nearest road as the incident occurred in a rural spot between Brading and Nunwell
Martin Groom, Bembridge Coastguard Station Officer said:
“We were pleased to be able offer personnel and a 4×4 vehicle to help the ambulance service.
“After the recent wet weather the paths have become very slippery and we urge walkers to take extra care”.
Once back to the road safely the casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
