A Bembridge woman, who refused to provide a specimen for analysis, will learn her fate next month.
Rochelle Galliene, 42, of Crossway, admitted a single charge of failing to provide a specimen for analysis when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (31st March).
The court heard how Galliene had previously entered a not-guilty plea at an earlier court hearing having been ‘unsure of her plea’.
Prosecuting, Leah Dillon, said that on the 23rd January 2026 at around 21:45 Police stopped a Chevrolet on High Street in Brading after suspecting the driver was under the influence of drugs.
Having pulled Galliene over, Police noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and ordered her to complete a roadside drugs wipe which returned a positive result for cannabis.
Galliene was arrested and taken to Newport Police Station where she refused to allow a sample of blood to be taken. The court heard how the incident was captured on body-worn camera.
The 42-year-old has been before the courts, last in 2017, and has a total of 11 convictions for 21 offences. She was previously banned from driving back in 2015, the court heard.
Defending Galliene, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client accepted that her decision not to provide at the Police station was deliberate but that there was no level of impairment in her driving.
The case was adjourned until the 5th June to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled. Galliene has been handed an interim driving ban.

If nothing to hide, why not provide.
Seems fishy to me.
Obviously being banned in 2015, still not
learnt right from wrong.
Maybe the only way to get tough with repeat offenders
is to ban them from driving for life.
These people will NEVER learn!
Once a wrong un, always a wrong un.
Take this druggie off the road permanently
Such people should be in institutions to STOP them
re-offending
She has a previous ban so is unlikely to be a newcomer to driving under the influence. Perhaps it is time to up the stakes and let her see the inside of a prison cell for a while and crush the car in the meantime.
