A bus has collided with a temporary traffic light in Freshwater this evening (Friday) causing the lights to become inoperative.
The incident occurred on Hooke Hill where footway re-construction and surfacing works are currently being undertaken.
The traffic management firm responsible for the temporary traffic lights is currently on-site assessing the situation and replacing the defective light.
Motorists are urged to take care when passing through the now, non-traffic light controlled works site.
HSS Hire Traffic Management took to Twitter to warn drivers of the incident.

I dont surpose they got a replacement as they all must be out all over the island !!!!
The bus or the lights?
How dreadful for this to happen – hope no one was hurt!
The driver should be sacked. How can you not see traffic lights.
With the amount lights around at the moment it is easy to confuse between traffic lights and decorations . Maybe if Island Potholes were to get on with job things would be clearer (Nettlestone this week 0930 – 1530, less lunch and tea breaks = 1/2 day effort)
Why the negatives. How can you not see something with bright red amber and green light on it. How would you like to have been on that bus. Also if the driver cant see a traffic light how about pedestrians.
More bad driving on the I o w
The temporary traffic lights were off and turned around by the side of a narrow road at the time as works had stopped for the day, not surprised the bus clipped it
