Vectis Rugby Football Club has announced the appointment of Allan Bridges as the new Chairman and Steve Dixon as Vice Chairman.
This change in leadership comes alongside the expansion of the club’s committee, a move aimed at driving the club forward and increasing youth participation in rugby on the Isle of Wight.
Allan Bridges, a long-time supporter and active member of Vectis RFC, steps into the role of Chairman with a wealth of experience and a vision for the future. His commitment to the club and passion for rugby are expected to usher in a new era of growth and development.
“It’s an honour to be appointed as Chairman of Vectis RFC,”
“Rugby has always been a significant part of our community, and I am dedicated to making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, especially the younger generation. We have exciting plans to expand our reach, ensuring that Vectis RFC remains a cornerstone of rugby on the Isle of Wight.”
“Our vision for Vectis RFC is ambitious, but we know that with the backing of our community, we can achieve great things,”
“We invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey and be a part of the positive impact we aim to make on the Isle of Wight.”
Supporting Bridges in his role is Steve Dixon, the reappointed Vice Chairman. Dixon brings a fresh perspective and a strong background in sports management. His strategic approach and enthusiasm for youth development align perfectly with the club’s goals.
Steve said:
“I am thrilled to join Allan and the rest of the committee in this new capacity,”
“Our primary focus is on growing the number of young people engaged in rugby. We believe in the sport’s ability to teach valuable life skills such as Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship
In addition to the leadership changes, Vectis RFC has expanded its committee to better serve its members and the community. The new, larger committee is composed of dedicated individuals who bring diverse skills and perspectives to the table. This expansion is a strategic move to enhance the club’s operations, outreach, and overall impact.
One of the primary objectives for the new leadership and committee is to increase youth participation in rugby. Vectis RFC aims to provide more opportunities for young people on the Isle of Wight to engage in the sport, regardless of their background or skill level. By offering comprehensive training programs, organising local tournaments, and partnering with schools, the club hopes to foster a love for rugby in the younger generation.
The success of Vectis RFC’s initiatives relies heavily on the support of the local community. Bridges and Dixon are calling on residents, businesses, and local organisations to get involved and support the club’s mission. Whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or simply attending matches, community engagement is crucial to the club’s growth and success.
As Vectis RFC embarks on this new chapter, the club’s leadership is optimistic about the future. With Allan Bridges at the helm, supported by Steve Dixon and a dynamic committee, the club is poised to reach new heights and inspire the next generation of rugby players on the Isle of Wight.
