The Blood Testing Department at St Mary’s Hospital will be relocated to the new Outpatients and Diagnostic Centre located at the North Hospital site from Monday (24th February).
Patients will need to check in for their blood test appointments at the self-check-in points located within the Outpatients and Diagnostic Centre.
The relocation of the current department will support several improvements for patients who need a blood test at the hospital. The new department will provide more privacy, and the sensory room for patients who need additional support during their blood test will be located within the department.
All blood tests at St Mary’s Hospital are by appointment only. Appointments should be booked using the new online system or by calling our automated phone line. More information about how to book a blood test as well as information about GP requested blood tests can be found on the Isle of Wight NHS Trust’s website.
If your GP or nurse wants you to have a blood test, ontact your practice to arrange or book an appointment. This includes GP-requested blood tests such as:
- Routine
- Urgent
- Fasting
- Annual routine

The new outpatients department is really good.
What we need now is parking. It was in the news a while ago that the bottom car park would become multi story or a double decker.
I know it will cause disruption but in the long term it will be good no doubt, but when?
I had to park off site a week ago to attend for a blood sample and luckily am still able to walk the distance.
Will still be mis-managed, badly organised. Don’t blame the front line staff at all, but managers, well need I say more. Nope.
You do need to say more. You forgot to mention that this sh**show arrived as a PFI contract for private companies to own the building and contents which the NHS now rents from them at extortionate interest rates and therefore has less money for staffing and clinics. And the people actually voted for it, in spite of the rest of us and the NHS staff pointing out the stupidity of the deal. A bit like we did with Brexit. As ye sow…..
I agree to a degree staff need better management because a lot of the nursing staff need a lot of managing unfortunatly..with full pay sick leave a lot do take the mickey. These people are not saints they are humans who like an other employee is likely to push bounderies.
Perhaps if managers actually did some bloody work to help out rather than hide away drinking coffee in the office or attending an imaginary meeting, things might be better, but that will never ever happen.
