A 21-year-old man from Guildford has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of LSD after a young male was hospitalised following an incident at a holiday park in Shanklin yesterday (Saturday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police and paramedics were called to Lower Hyde Holiday Park shortly before 18:30, with an ambulance rushing a patient to hospital under Police escort a short time later.
It has now been confirmed by Hampshire Constabulary that a male in his 20s was admitted to hospital after taking illegal drugs.
Police say they were called to the holiday park off Landguard Road at 17:53 following a report that a man had become violent towards his friends – thought to be as a result of taking Class A drugs. The individual was located and taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he is said to be making a recovery.
As part of the Police’s investigation into the incident, a search of a caravan was conducted resulting in a 21-year-old man from Guildford being arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs – namely LSD.
He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
Sergeant Radford has taken to the Isle of Wight Police’s social media account to say:
“Taking drugs is a game of chance and who knows what it is going to do to you. I don’t know why you would want to do that to your body.”
A spokesperson for Lower Hyde Holiday Park has told Island Echo:
“Lower Hyde is a family-friendly park so we were saddened to hear about this isolated incident. We’re working with the police and our thoughts are with our guest and his family and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.”

Such classy tourists on the Island this year
The saying when in Rome comes to mind…
If only it were just tourists. The island is riddled with drugs.
A spokesperson for Lower Hyde Holiday Park has told Island Echo:
“Lower Hyde is a family-friendly park so we were saddened to hear about this isolated incident. We’re working with the police and our thoughts are with our guest and his family and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.”……
Just say no drugs on our site or automatically thrown off the site …signs around the complex would be enough and in your holiday brochure…,
This site does not check visitors they dont keep a secure record of people staying there as I know of friends of ours stayed there and there were more people than there should of been security is not tight its run by kids so what do we expect got help the children
Not for the first time at that location either….!
Some of the residence are not much better..
Yes…. especially when we get the £9.50 sun holiday tourists what do we expect park resorts need to re think who stays at there parks
Drugs go on and on wrecking lives, sentences need increasing for those guilty of supply. Current sentences are zero deterrent.
I hope the only reason he was not held in custody is that someone is following him to identify his contacts.
If found guilty the supplier should pay the total cost of the emergency services response to the incident, otherwise we taxpayers pick up the bill yet again. The dealers pocket the profits.,
I think that this will be the first of many incidents involving tourists who usually go abroad.
Family friendly park?? Yep ok if you turn a blind eye to what goes on at that park
I’m confused… was he was enjoying Long Summer Days…Maybe a Lovely Sunday Dinner
Perhaps a Lemon Strawberry Daiquiri
A police escort for a drug taking just about an adult. Stupid boy. Sgt Radford is so right in saying, people don’t know what the hell they are taking. They don’t know what is in these drugs and how it is going to react once they have ingested it. Hope the prat who gave them to him gets a very heavy fine.
I would imagine that not all of the case has been presented here, yet certain people are putting comments when knowing probably %10 of this case.
