Gusts of up to 60mph are expected across the Isle of Wight by the end of the week due to a rather vigorous cyclonic system pushing in from the West, which has led to a weather warning being issued.
Forecasters at IW Met Service explain that the parent system will move closer to Iceland with secondary systems running around the southern side. This particular system of concern will likely to run across Ireland and into northern England, bringing strong winds along its southern edge, especially through the English Channel Islanders are warned of the risk of falling debris, the risk of damage to outdoor furniture and events, plus large waves around the Southern and Western coasts of the Island. Overtopping of sea defences is likely due to spring tides. The yellow weather warning is in force from 02:00 until 13:00 on Friday 23rd August.
