To mark turning 155 years young, the original Isle of Wight ferry company will be spreading the birthday love and giving away 155 treats to customers at random throughout the day.
Red Funnel is also marking its birthday weekend by offering car day returns for travel on 10th or 11th September for just £15.50 each way. This offer is available when pre-booked online or over the phone using the promotional code BIRTHDAY155.
Although roots date back to the 1820s, The Southampton Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited was formed in 1861 and is the original operator to the Isle of Wight. The abbreviated name Red Funnel was born in 1935 when the famous red funnel and black top was uniformly adopted across the entire fleet.
Despite a proud and illustrious history, Red Funnel does not rest on its laurels and the modern services on offer today have seen significant investment in recent years, including the newest addition to the fleet Red Jet 6, which came into service in July having been built on the Isle of Wight at a cost of £6m.
The vehicle ferry fleet has also been upgraded with Red Falcon and Red Osprey both having undergone £2.2m refurbishments since 2014.
Operating 365 days a year and carrying 3.4m passengers annually, Red Funnel prides itself on award-winning customer service and modern facilities alongside its proud heritage.
