The Post Office will open a new-style Post Office ‘local’ service at Apse Heath Post Office near Sandown on Thursday 10th March at 13:00.
Post Office services will be provided from an open-plan counter located at the retail till, on the right side of the shop as you enter. Service will be available throughout the shop’s opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 07:00-19:30; Sunday: 08:00-19:00.
This is an extra 37 hours and 30 minutes a week, including all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch will open significantly earlier and will close much later. These changes will make it easier for customers to visit.
The branch needs to close for refurbishment on Monday 7th March at 17:30. During this time alternative branches include:
- Shanklin Post Office, 42 Regent Street, Shanklin, PO36 0JT
- Rookley Post Office, Highwood Farm Shop, Main Road, Ventnor, PO38 3NG
Although the local style format is a different way of providing a service, security or privacy is not compromised. The low-level counters make it easier for staff and customers to have discreet conversations and whilst awaiting service customers will be asked to stand back from the counter to aid privacy. Anyone handling Post Office transactions including new staff will be fully trained on all operational and service issues including customer privacy.
Apse Heath will be a local plus branch offering an enhanced range of products including Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels and transcash. Customers will still be able to transact manual banking (non-barcoded transactions). Also cheques will continue to be accepted as a method of payment.
Adrian Skinner, Area Manager, said:
“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
The new Apse Heath Post Office will be delighted to welcome customers to the newly refurbished branch.
