Island Line trains are being disrupted for the second time this week due to staff shortages.
Despite a £26million investment to enhance Island Line with new trains, platforms and track, it is staff shortages that are still letting the service down.
South Western Railway has announced that a number of services between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin have been cancelled today.
The following train journeys will not be running:
Earlier today Island Echo reported that Island Line trains will not be serving Ryde Pier Head for a period of 7 months as part of a new £17million scheme to make Ryde Pier’s railway safe.
What a absolute joke and they wonder why people aren’t using it especially with the earlier news about not serving the pier head during the busy summer period
Boycott! They dont deserve paying customers
Train more staff would help…
If it had been widened and tar mac’d then no need for staff, or rails or dangerous electricity it would be a wonderful relief road and a much needed by-pass for Brading which will be gird locked once all the houses in Ryde are filled with two car tax credit kept families.
Well Done Island Line! You are Amazing!!
(Thats sarcasm for the hard of thinking)
There two customers could go halves on a tandem
Maybe the person who said tar-Mac it had some sense after all
And people believe Covid is over !!!!!
Hands face and space …fresh air …
I agree. Majority of the population think COVID has gone, it hasn’t and this is the result.
Suck it up peeps…
Nothing stopping the Island staff from working during the strike. The union fatcats will stil be paid hundreds of thousand a year
And your statement, approved by island echo is based on what facts?
Have they gone on strike already. We actually do not need a railway on the island.
Use it for cycle and footpaths.
