A Binstead man who felt ‘okay’ to drive after consuming alcohol at a friends house has been banned from the roads for 12 months after admitting drink driving.
Cory Daniels, 20, of Broadway Crescent, in Binstead, admitted drink driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (3rd December).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell, told the court that on the 16th November at around 23:45, Police spotted a vehicle being driven with only its side lights on.
Officers followed the vehicle for a while before stopping it on Green Street, where a roadside breath test was conducted.
After completing the breath test, a reading of 46 was given which is over the legal limit of 35.
Defending Daniels, Michael McGoldrick, told the court that Daniels had been drinking at a friends house but that he felt he was okay to drive.
Magistrates banned Daniels from driving for 12-months and order he pay a £350 fine. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £140 surcharge fee.
That is the problem letting uneducated children drive,
obviously 20 years of age and he does not know right
from wrong.
Maybe the driving age should be increased, by then
young drivers might be educated enough to understand that
drink driving is wrong.
Drink driving kills innocent people!
As an ex Firefighter and also spending years in the funeral business I have seen first hand the sickening result of these idiot Drink Drivers. With the families permission, the results should be filmed in HD or whatever and the offender MADE to look at what he/she has done. No bloody slapped wrists. If this is the best that the courts can do, then the law needs to be changed
and quickly, otherwise it will keep on getting worse.
oh, it’s okay to drive, I’ve only been drinking alcohol!!! what a fool!
