2 women in their 30s, who were both arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after a man was found with serious facial injuries in Shanklin, have been released.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police and paramedics were called to Hope Road at just before 19:00 on Saturday when a man was found with serious but non-life threatening injuries, now known to be to his face.
A section of the cliff path leading to Hope Road was cordoned off for a time, with officers searching nearby streets.
Specialist teams then moved in on an address on nearby Osborne Road, where 2 women – a 32-year-old woman from Shanklin and a 33-year-old woman from Rookley – were arrested.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that the suspects have been released under investigation.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding how the man’s injuries were sustained.
