Police armed with shields and a dog moved in to arrest 2 women in Shanklin last night (Saturday) after a man was found with serious injuries.
At just before 19:00, Police were called to Hope Road in Shanklin after a man was found injured and in a serious condition.
2 paramedic crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service attended the scene near to the Gracellie Hotel, later conveying the male to St Mary’s Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Enquiries led Police to a property on Osborne Road, where it is believed the casualty was seriously assaulted.
Officers from the Joint Operations Unit searched a number of roads in the area before taking up position outside the property, hiding behind a wall under the cover of darkness. Then, shortly after 20:15, officers armed with a shield and accompanied by the dog unit moved in on the target address.
Meanwhile, response and patrol officers erected a cordon on the Cliff Path between Osborne Road and Hope Road, where it is thought the male stumbled along after becoming injured.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a 32-year-old woman from Shanklin and a 33-year-old woman from Rookley were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
They both remain in custody at this time and enquiries are ongoing.
Police are not yet saying how the man’s injuries were sustained.
Blimey what is happening to our Island and the country, can’t all be down to Boris or Covid?
To many mainlanders moving here.
And to many immigrants moving there.
Simples.
yes,i know some so called human,s.. simple,u go all the way back over their..,PS,, don’t. for get ur Nik,Nik,s.
You can’t blame mainlanders all the time most move there to retire I think you’ll find it’s the islanders causing all the aggro as they are very small minded people best thing we did was to move back to the mainland
Good riddance
I am an Islander and I can attest to this statement. Moving off was the best decision ever. Idk why people find it hard to understand that the Islands prosperity is non-existent with the decline in living standards, rise of crime, unstable job market. It’s been heading in that direction for a while. I did not realise how narrow my world view and even view of the country actually was. All you got to do is go to Ventnor, that used to be a prosperous Victorian town that is now tatty. The island is the Ventnor of the UK.
I don’t understand what’s happening to the island. Use to be a lovely place to live now its horrific
n,i,m,b,y,…that is it,,
Shanklin is becoming rife with drunks and druggies
becoming,,have u been away for a long time…pd
Are you on something !! You don’t make any sense whatsoever !!!
The island has now caught up with the violence and crime experienced by the mainland for many, many years.
Is it because mainland low life law breakers are moving here?
We got plenty that were born here
YES
( AND THERE CHILDREN )
Alright sunshine wind your neck in!
To much crime on the island to little justice ! Slap on the wrist don’t work !!!
paul you need to go back to school
He never went to school, to busy glue sniffing. ( But to be fair, you can tell that he is 100% caulk head tho )
This is just a taster of things to come. Kids dragged up by unfit parents.
