Cross-Solent travel is once again being affected by wet and windy conditions in what seems to be a never-ending cycle of adverse weather.
Hovertravel have announced that they have suspended their Ryde-Southsea service due to the stormy conditions. An update is expected at 10:30, but there is no guarantee this is when the service will resume.
Red Funnel says that their hi-speed Red Jet service is likely to be disrupted with delays or cancellations between 11:00-18:00 today as a result of the weather.
All of Wightlink’s services – Ryde, Fishbourne and Yarmouth – are running to timetable. There are pre-planned cancellations on the Yarmouth-Lymington route today, as previously reported by Island Echo.
UPDATE @ 13:51 – Red Jet have now suspended their service until further notice.
An update is expected at 17:30.
UPDATE @ 18:35 – Red Funnel’s Red Jet service will return to timetable from 18:15 from Southampton and 18:45 from Cowes.
Hovertravel’s Service will resume at 19:15 from Ryde and 19:30 from Southsea.

As illness seems to prevent such craft from operating now, likely due to ‘health and safety’ imagine what it will be like when CV arrives here, as it will:

Think people will be in for a massive shock, as as ‘fiscally’ damaging as a WW.
New is being kept back to prevent panic imo.
Perhaps we should stop all but necessary crossings BEFORE it arrives, too late once here. St Mary’s 8 hours waits will become a thing to wish for.

Although the quality is very poor, it is 45 years ago, the similarity to CV and locations are chilling.
Worth watching for those of a less ‘nervous’ persona.
a lot of scaremongering over this virus – it is also reported that 97% of cases present symptoms that are no worse than a common cold, however, the fear of an unknown new virus, is being “enhanced” by the doom mongering media which isn’t helping matters.
This is already far more widespread than people realise, as large numbers present symptoms that they think are a cold/cough and go to the chemists for over the counter relief, whilst continuing to go to work, the pub, see friends and go shopping.
I wonder if most cancellations are off peak sailings? Maybe they don’t want to cancel peak time sailing???
