The Bugle Inn in Brading is set to reopen under new ownership after being closed for more than 5 months, with plans for a fresh look and modern touches while retaining its traditional pub atmosphere.
The popular Isle of Wight pub, which closed its doors on 31st May earlier this year amid rising costs across the hospitality industry, has announced that a new chapter is on the horizon.
Taking to social media, the new owners have confirmed that work is already taking place behind the scenes ahead of the pub’s reopening.
Refurbishments are planned, alongside fresh faces and a number of modern twists, although the new team has pledged to retain the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere for which the pub is known.
Announcing the news, The Bugle Brading said:
“A new chapter for The Bugle is coming!
“Brand New Owners. Brand New Look. Same Traditional Pub.
“We’re busy behind the scenes bringing some exciting changes to your local pub. Expect new refurbishments, fresh faces and a few modern twists, all while keeping the warm, welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere that makes a traditional pub special.
“We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!”
The news comes after the pub’s previous owners, Daniel and Jasmine Ashley-Walker, announced in April that they were putting the business on the market after 5 years at the helm.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the couple initially intended to continue trading while a buyer was sought, but subsequently announced that the pub would close at the end of May.
At the time, the owners cited mounting financial pressures across the hospitality sector, including increases in taxes, business rates, wages and utility bills.
They explained that some ingredient costs had increased as much as 4-fold over the previous 2 years, making it increasingly difficult to operate without significantly increasing prices for customers.
Despite the closure, the couple remained hopeful that a new operator could eventually be found to bring the pub back to life.
Now, more than 5 months later, those hopes appear to have been realised, with a new team preparing to welcome customers back through the doors.
An exact reopening date has not yet been confirmed, with the new owners saying an announcement will be made soon.
Further details about the refurbishments and the people behind the new venture have also yet to be revealed.
