Dog owners are being reminded to keep their pets under control following the deaths of 3 sheep in the Wroxall area.
Police believe the livestock were killed during the month of April as a result of an attack by a dog.
Islanders are urged to ensure their animals are under control when in an area where they may be livestock in order to help prevent these incidents from happening.
If a dog worries livestock on any agricultural land, the owner of the dog, and, if it is in the charge of a person other than its owner, that person also, shall be guilty of an offence under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953.
It’s not just sheep to which the law applies… cattle, goats, swine, horses and domestic poultry are also covered by the law.
