A yellow weather warning for strong winds across the Isle of Wight has been issued for tomorrow (Thursday). Local forecasters IW Met Service say that heavy and squally bands of showery rain will move across the Island from the West during Thursday morning and the first half of the afternoon. In and around the heaviest showers, it is likely that some very strong wind gusts will develop, potentially as high as 70-75mph locally. Islanders should be aware of the risks of falling tree debris and dangerous driving conditions, especially on more elevated and exposed routes. Delays and cancellations to cross-Solent travel is expected. The warning is in force from 10:00 until 16:00 on Thursday 22nd February 2024.
