Vectis Historic Vehicle Club (VHVC) have donated £1,000 to Ability Dogs 4 Young People. Following the VHVC Ltd Club Open Day – which regularly raises donations for charity – the organisation contacted Ability Dogs 4 Young People’s CEO Carol Court, as the club was aware of the continued support needed for the Island’s young people requiring assistance dogs. Ability Dogs 4 Young People now have over seventy Ability Dogs and puppies, with 50 directly assisting disabled young people with a variety of needs. The charity covers all the costs of working and training ability dogs and puppies, including vet bills, food and equipment. VHVC Ltd was pleased to donate £1,000 from the funds raised at the open day and presented it to the Charity Ability Dogs 4 Young People. These funds will help the charity to carry on with their excellent work. The club has previously donated funds to enable Carol to obtain 2 dogs – Paddi & Jack – in memory of Jack & Paddi Eales. The cheque was presented by the members on 21st August outside the Charity’s Training Centre. 10 classic cars attended the photo shoot in the warm sunshine. Club members attending were: Kevin & Sandra Froment, Vickie Rasmussen, Peter & Tina Groves, Peter Hodgson, Mike Brackstone & Dee, Dave Spurgin, Jenny & Chris Belford, Nick Ballanger, Sam Smith & Steve Ansell.

“I would like to personally thank VHVC for continuing to support the Charity and our Ability Dog training programme. We are very fortunate that VHVC and other Island clubs are generously supporting us. “This means that we can continue training Ability Dogs to assist disabled young people on the Island. Thank you.”
The Vectis Historic Vehicle Club has presented a cheque for £1,000 to Kathryn Grimes of the Wight Brainy Bunch following the club’s open day at Arreton Barns back in July. Classic Cars from many Island clubs attended the event on 7th July, despite the early rain. Kathryn thanked the members attending the presentation for their support, which she said was a great surprise. The Wight Brainy Bunch was set up by Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn following Mark’s diagnosis of a brain tumour in February 2015. Realising that very little funding is received for research into brain tumours; following Mark’s surgery in April 2015, they embarked on a series of fund-raising events to benefit the brain tumour charity, which provides emotional support and financial assistance to Isle of Wight families affected by brain tumours.
