Vectis 40s Vintage held their monthly meeting at the Women’s Institute Headquarters in Newport recently.
After the business side of the meeting, the group presented 2 Island charities with the results of their latest round of fundraising. As the Members are all Island residents and the money is raised on the Island, the group insists that recipient charities use the money to benefit Island projects.
This time, 2 charities benefited from their efforts: Wessex Cancer Trust has an Island-based centre at 21 Lugley Street, Newport.
Laura Haytack, who has been with the charity for 6 months, received the funding on behalf of the charity. Wessex Cancer Trust gives help and guidance to both cancer sufferers and those who are affected by cancer in some way. They provide counselling, therapy and sessions to bring people together.
Based in Ryde High Street the Veterans Hub was the other recipient charity, and was represented by John Dugdale and Val Hadlow-their cake -maker in chief. This charity gives veterans a platform to sort out their problems and concerns and are able to advise them on the best course of action for further help.
Both charities received a cheque from Alan Williams, from Vectis Vintage 40s, for the sum of £500 each.
