Island-based cannabis research company Vecticanna has announced a groundbreaking new partnership with leading CBD law expert Robert Jappie of Ince London.
Robert brings a wealth of experience in CBD Regulation and Compliance to the business, previously heading the UK’s first dedicated Cannabis Law department which launched in 2018, as well as being instrumental in obtaining the first cannabis license in England for the child Alfie Dingley in 2018.
The move to bring this industry specialist alongside the existing expert panel of Academics and Doctors has been a key focus for the Vecticanna board to strengthen their case for the Island’s very own research facility.
Adam Mawer, Director, says:
“Having Robert join us will strengthen our application as it reaches its final stages and bring a wealth of knowledge around cannabis law here in the UK for our proposed research facility here on the Isle of Wight.
“We’re incredibly pleased to have this industry-leading lawyer supporting us with our future research activities and the benefits it can bring to the local economy, as well as the worldwide research of the health and medical benefits of CBD.”
Vecticanna – which incorporates WightCBD and Island Hemp Farm Ltd – will bring year-round employment opportunities for many Islanders with the hope that the site will eventually employ over 60 people.

Trials at the new centre are going to go really well with millions of volunteers stepping forewards!
Wow people will work for free or will work for below minimum wage.
Reminds me of the tap at Burt’s brewery for the ‘tea’ break !!
These plants are nature’s gifts. I’ve heard great things about CBD and arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and even cancer pain relief. Brilliant that an Island company is at the forefront.
Newport job centre staff soon to be the ‘only’ ones signing on.
I expect the NIMBYs will kill this company just as they did with all the other innovative companies that tried to create jobs and wealth on the island. The company will be driven off the island with the NIMBYs constant complaints and objections to growth.
Well I hope they do a full range of products & not just oil in 2 strengths as advertised on the wightcbd website.
Creams, lip balm, gummies cookies, flapjack, e-liquid & flowers are all excellent tools to help with pain. ALL of these items are readily available in the UK & are all available from reputable companies.
I hope this isn’t be done to make a big thing just so they can say “its IoW grown” & not make full use of the plant as other companies already do.
