It was victory once again last weekend for the a3crg cycling team as they took part in the Vectis Roads CC 3 day TT.
The team of Matt, Seb and Paddy were joined by double World champion and 2 times Paralympic medalist Rachel Morris , racing for a3crg, taking part in all three days – a massive challenge.
Day 1 – Saturday consisted of a 10 mile TT, Sunday a 25 miler and Monday a challenging 50miles. Each of these races had hills, steep hills and typical IOW road conditions.
The weather looked dead iffy in the lead up to the 10m, scattered showers, overcast and a smattering of showers. The Military Road stretches along the south coast of the Isle, blasted with salt and sand whipped up from the coastal breezes. The advantage to this is that the road dries out really quickly during scattered showers.
The second day, Sunday, consisted of the 25 miler…a new “improved” course taking in Carisbrooke, Bowcombe and the Middle Road and back out through to Brighstone.
The morning ride to the start/HQ was shrouded in sea mist, quite heavy in places but it quickly lifted before the start…It did knock the temp down a fair bit but no where near the near zero temps experienced recently. The sun came out, the temp rose and the visors fogged up.
Day 3, the 50 miler. The sea mist was thicker and was more stubborn to lifting dropping visibility right down. By the time start came it was considerably more clearer but still hung about quite thickly in places.
Winning on each day, a3crg took overall victory for the second year in a row at the Vectis Roads Cycle Club 3 Day Time Trial Festival.
