Following on from yesterday’s revelation that 21-year-old Matt Saul will ride at reserve for the Wightlink Warriors in 2016, it has been announced that teenager Tyler Govier will take the second reserve spot at the club.
A thrilled 19-year-old Ty said:
“I am so stoked to be part of the Wightlink Warriors side for next season, a full season with a great club like the Isle of Wight is just what I need and now it’s push time in my speedway career.
“I know I’m capable of doubling my three point average by the end of the season and that is my main aim and goal for next year and hope to progress as a rider from there.
“I have just brought a new engine I’m hoping to test early in the new year and I can’t wait to meet the rest of my team mates, management, sponsors and fans of the club. I’m really looking forward to a good year and I can’t thank the management enough for this opportunity.”
Commercial Director Barry Bishop commented:
“Martin Widman and I are really pleased to have Tyler in our 2016 squad. Talking with him has given me a clear picture of his targets for the year and I believe we can help him achieve them.
“We have had a lot of interest in terms of filling the number 6, 7 and 8 positions in our team and we are very close to finalising all three reserves. Martin and I understand the importance of the reserves this year and with Ty and Matt signed, I believe that once they’ve settled they will be a formidable reserve pairing at Smallbrook.”
