Tributes are being paid to an Island man who died during a skydiving accident last month. 46-year-old Sam Cornwell was skydiving near Shotton Airfield in Durham on 28th April when his parachute failed to open. He was sadly pronounced dead after being located on an industrial estate. Mr Cornwell, who originally came from Godshill, was working as a videographer at Sky-High Skydiving Peterlee when he died. Durham Constabulary has confirmed that the death is being treated as unexpected with investigations ongoing. In a statement, the sky diving company has said:
“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of a close friend, colleague and talented member of our team, our skydiving family. “The British Skydiving Board will investigate the incident and when completed it will submit its findings to the relevant authorities.”
A GoFundMe page was launched in Sam’s memory, however it has temporarily been removed due to technical issues.

How awful for the man. I assumed they had back up shutes?
How sad, he looks a nice man. No emergency chute.
