Isle of Wight 2 made a strong start to their 2026/27 Senior British Club League table tennis campaign at Waterside in Southampton over the weekend, picking up 2 wins from their opening 4 matches.
The Island team of Ryan Cates, Steve Mills, Paul Rainford and Joe Chapman got off to an excellent start on Saturday, recording convincing victories in both of their matches.
They opened with a 7-2 win against Pingsters before following it up with a 9-0 victory over St Austell.
Sunday brought a tougher set of fixtures, with the team suffering a 7-2 defeat against Worthing before a closely fought final match against the Southampton-based Waterside team.
The contest went right down to the wire, with Waterside eventually edging the match 5-4.
After the opening weekend, Isle of Wight 2 sit 4th in the league table, with their next round of matches taking place in November.
