Freshwater Bay Golf Club has enjoyed a busy spell of competition, with Joanne Wright securing the club’s Annual Knockout Cup and just 4 points separating the top 6 teams in the Mixed Open.
The Annual Knockout Cup was contested over the summer months and was open to the club’s lower-handicap players.
Joanne Wright emerged as the winner after beating Paula Burke in a very close match, played in beautiful weather at Freshwater Bay.
Meanwhile, 52 players took part in the club’s Mixed Open in near-perfect conditions.
Van Mossel Esplanade sponsored the event and provided all players with a goody bag before play, with the club thanking the company for its support.
Competition was tight, with only 4 points separating the top 6 teams. 4 teams finished tied on 78 points, meaning 2 missed out on the prizes.
Taking 1st place with 82 points were Sheila Richard, Lucy Burke, Kevin Garrett and John Burke.
Sue Oldershaw, Ann Smith, Gary Dobson and Nick Palmer finished 2nd with 80 points, while Sue Thompson, Mandy White, Ian Thompson and Jeremy English took 3rd with 78 points.
Joan Martin, Liz Morris, Chris Sprackling and Roger Tucker finished 4th, also with 78 points.
In the nearest-the-pin competitions, Mandy White claimed the ladies’ prize on the 3rd, with Chris Sprackling taking the gentlemen’s prize.
On the 14th, Sheena Harvey was the ladies’ nearest-the-pin winner, while Geoff Budd took the gentlemen’s prize.
