Tourism businesses on the Isle of Wight are being urged to put forward nominations to join the Board of Visit Isle of Wight, the organisation currently responsible for marketing the Island.
Visit Isle of Wight (VIOW), an independent, not-for-profit company, is holding elections to appoint new directors who will play an active role in shaping the future of the Island as a holiday destination.
The new directors will help make decisions that support the tourism sector, strengthen the Island’s appeal, and increase visitor numbers. Tourism currently contributes 38% of the Isle of Wight’s overall economy, equating to almost £500million.
Will Myles, Managing Director at Visit Isle of Wight, has said:
“This is an opportunity for tourism businesses to influence the way their Island is marketed. We create and deliver marketing campaigns to promote the Island and all it has to offer – a unique, accessible and stunning destination for day visitors and holidaymakers on the mainland and internationally.
“We would encourage as many nominations as possible to ensure the Island’s tourism businesses have a voice.”
The Board includes strategic partners such as the council, ferry companies and other transport operators, alongside representatives from the tourism sector who are BID levy payers.
VIOW is seeking up to 12 elected BID levy payers to serve on the Board for a 3-year term, although there is the possibility that Visit Isle of Wight will cease to exist after next year’s D-BID vote.
Nominations are now open and will close at 12:00 on Friday 3rd October. Online voting will begin on Monday 20th October and close at 12:00 on Friday 31st October. The successful nominees will be announced during the week commencing 10th November.
BID levy payers can view nominees and find out more at www.visitwightpro.com.

What’s the point until ferry prices drop
This is why the tourist’s don’t bother
£23 Day return on fastcat for an adult…£11.50 each way – it is not the price of the ferry, it is woeful state of the island – perhaps if the council spent more on the the tourism sector and cut the waste on pandering to benefit spongers, then things would look nicer and be more appealng to tourists
Well said.
Not to mention unreliable service, it’s runs when it wants
to run.
Also the amount of persons I have heard say
50p to use toilets, it’s disgusting.
What ever happened to spend a penny, not 50 pennies!
Not to mention having to pay a £2.00 nightly charge to
park along seafronts.
unless you do what motorists do in Sandown and park
on Pavements FREE OF CHARGE all day!
LOL
Tourism on the island is shite!
I’m sure you’re doing all you can to help IOW tourism and not just anonymously flinging baseless insults around.
From what I have read, bid levy payers are hoping that visit Isle of Wight will be no longer at the next vote, so I would’nt bother applying.
I’ve been out of this game for a lot of years now (2005) You don’t have to be Einstein to see that visitor numbers are declining year on year no question. Appreciate there was an upsurge during the covid period. Whilst we can lay
Simple answer, Provide more loos and reduce the exorbitant car parking charges.
Free loos is what we need.
Tourists come for the food, drink, scenic views & walks, National Trust properties & quirky attractions. I doubt toilet tarrifs enter their minds. The ferry prices dwarf the cost of a pee when considering your budge!
