The team from The Royal Hotel in Ventnor visited St Mary’s Hospital in Newport baring festive treats on Thursday evening.
Head Chef Ben Chamberlain and his team spent the day preparing 100 Festive Feasts and 100 mince pies for NHS staff working the evening and night shift.
The special delivery included a delicious Christmas turkey (and vegetarian) roast, including all the trimmings, cranberry gravy and a Royal Mince Pie for dessert.
To ensure every member of staff working that evening could access a complimentary meal, the Festive Feasts were delivered in individual containers that could be reheated at any time during the evening for them to enjoy on their break.
Clare Ryan, Head of Marketing from the Royal Hotel said:
“We are so pleased to be able to share a little festive joy on the run up to Christmas for our wonderful NHS Staff at St Mary’s Hospital. They are a lifeline service for our Isle of Wight Community, and this is our small way of saying thank you. Ben and his team pulled together a really special Festive Feast which we hear went down exceptionally well with the staff.”
The Royal Hotel worked with ‘Meals for NHS’ who are providing front line NHS workers meals from local restaurants through the COVID crisis and WA Foods who very kindly donated turkey to use for the meals.

100 festive feats, eh? Did they supply any alms?
Ho Ho Ho
There’s been free meals on Thursdays, however the evening and nights rarely see it because some staff on days are there for both lunch-dinner so have 2 meals for free and don’t leave any for others, you hear them bragging in corridors might get another one later. makes you so angry in a pandemic, not sure where the hotel meals went but they weren’t distributed to all staff on shift, in evening/nights, and 100 portions is alot for that time of the day??? I know someone working there and this is almost fake news in there eyes
I know some say getting for a colleague too so get 2 bags then have it for themseld
What about, nursing homes, police, fire, refuse collectors etc. All front line.
I seen it too. Staff collecting one for them and one for ‘a colleague’ knowing the colleague in my area just wanted 2 one for thurs and one for lunch friday. Even people living local just go back for a free dinner on Thursday.
Assuages their guilt for all the foreign number plates in their car park all summer. Lots of mainland ones in there now…. Still, well done, everyone.
