Firefighters from Newport and Ryde have responded to reports of the smell of burning at a residential care home in Blackwater this afternoon (Saturday).
3 pumping appliances and an aerial ladder platform are currently on scene off Blackwater Hollow having been alerted to the situation at 15:15.
According to fire control, there is no sign of fire at this stage but investigations are being carried out.
UPDATE @ 16:01 – Island Echo is told that the alarm was sparked as a result of a fault with the home’s lift.
Resources are now starting to stand down from the incident.
