A section of a coastal path in Totland has been shut this week after a void was found in part of the seawall structure. A small section of the T34 path – which runs between Totland Pier and Colwell Chine Road – has been closed. There is no other through route, so a diversion is to be made using Colwell Chine Road (footpaths T1 & T2) and Madeira Road. It is unclear as to how long the path will be closed for.

A quick, cheap and environmentally friendly means of repairing this would be to employ Gabion Cages constructed of 505 grade stainless steel. Made to any size and shape and where possible filled using the broken sections of wall. This saves costs by lorries bringing in ever more aggregate. Also blends in with existing wall
so of course won’t be utilised by this council.
Still trying to peddle those gabion cages. Perhaps we could fill them with useless councillors as added ballast.
Drop them an e-mail.They probably wouldn’t even know this ?
Legend.
Not heard from you for a while but still stuck on repeat;)
iv has some very good points on here. She does try to sell cages but that doesn’t detract from the sensible things she points out.
Far better than all the brainwashed idiots, loving being swamped with the worlds chancers still believing that despite lack of houses, dearer rents, ever more sex and violent crimes, congested roads, racial hatred marches costing us millions, that ‘some how’ they are good for the country.
It is unclear as to how long the path will be closed for. if it is down to our Council it will never reopen
No wonder the government didn’t want to include the isle of wight in the uk coastal path scheme. It’s just a continual money pit through erosion unfortunately!
Perhaps they could divert the path inland and the grant planing permission for lots of lovely luxury squillion pound second homes with stunning views if the developers paid for shoring up the cliffs. Silly idea and sure it could never happen. .could it?
